Valentine’s weekend saw love popping up all over London for the city’s cyclists. Red heartshaped cycle stands have been appearing across the capital in a bid to help our fight for every heartbeat.
Graham McLoughlin, a Hackney based artist, teamed up with cycling parking firm Cyclehoop, to create 14 bespoke #HeartsOfLondon cycle stands to bring a little love to the city. The city wide exhibition of eye-catching red cycle stands celebrates the relationships and movements we make throughout the city.
Share the love
The installations have been a unique way to promote cycling and secure bike parking while raising awareness for our fight against cardiovascular disease during heart month. Accompanying the heart-shaped hoops are a sticker, stating ‘Share the love by making a donation to us — all you need to do is text ‘LNDN86 £5′ to 70070.
The bike stands encourage the people of London to help other hearts by making a donation of £5 to help fund our life saving research.
Cyclehoop have also launched two competitions in conjunction with this activity where you could win two Cyclehoop designed Bikeshelves worth £66.50 and a brand new Cherry Red TokyoBike worth £490.
To win, all you need to do is simply take a photo of your bike with the heart-shaped hoop and tag #HeartsOfLondon @cyclehoop @tokyobikelondon. You can enter as many times as you like and Cyclehoop will be selecting their favourite image by the end of February.
Additionally, the first person to find and photograph all 14 heart shaped hoops and tag #HeartsOfLondon @cyclehoop, will win an additional Cyclehoop designed Bikeshelf worth £80.
Our Director of Fundraising, Louise Parkes, said: “I would like to thank Graham McLoughlin and CycleHoop for choosing to support the BHF with these fantastic heart shaped installations. These installations will not only help to raise awareness of the BHF, but will also help us to raise money for lifesaving research which is helping to change the lives of those affected by heart disease every day.”
