Steve Pateman, Head of UK Banking at Santander, took on the Royal Parks Half Marathon to further the fight against heart disease.
Together with his wife Sarah and 16,000 runners, Steve tackled the 13.1 mile route past iconic London landmarks.
The couple raised over £10,000 to help fund our life saving research.
No stranger to fundraising, Steve has previously taken part in our Viking Bike Ride, a 56 mile cycle round the East Kent coast, raising over £20,000 for us.
Steve said: “Over the past three years Santander have supported the BHF’s cycling series and throughout this partnership I have signed up to a number of cycling events to fundraise for this worthwhile charity. However as we approach the end of this existing partnership I thought I would try something new and have a stab at a half marathon.
“My wife and I wanted to raise as much as we could to help the many families up and down the country suffering from heart disease; a condition which often means they can't enjoy the things we all take for granted.”
Amit Aggarwal, our Head of Corporate Fundraising, said: “We are so grateful for the support and dedication Steve has shown to our cause. Santander’s support of our cycling series over the past three years has been vital to our fight against heart and circulatory disease. Like Steve, so many Santander employees have been involved in our cycling events and we are thankful to everyone who has taken on a challenge for us and raised money to help fund our ground-breaking research.”
