ISS Facility Services, one of the largest facilities management organisations in the UK, has beaten its fundraising target of £500,000.
The company has raised £523,000 since commencing its support in January 2010, and is on track to hit £550,000 by the end of the year, marking the end of the five year partnership.
All the money raised throughout the partnership will help fund our ground breaking cardiovascular research, which could create a better future for so many.
Fundraising activities pursued by Team ISS include our annual red fundraiser in February, skydives, cake sales, raffles and pedometer challenges. ISS has over 30 stock donation bins and staff have taken part in the BHF’s Bag It. Beat It. campaign every September. Since 2010 our network of over 700 shops has received an incredible 5,140 bags of unwanted household goods from ISS, which could raise over £102,000!
Richard Sykes, CEO at ISS UK and Ireland, explains: “We are thrilled to have reached our target before the end of the year. Our staff have been fully engaged throughout the partnership taking on numerous challenges and events as well as office fundraising to raise as much as possible. We still have a couple of months to go until our partnership officially ends and we are excited to see how much more we can add to our total.
“There are over seven million people living with cardiovascular disease in the UK. Our fundraising is helping the BHF continue their lifesaving work, which will hopefully lead to a better future for so many people. I am so proud of the entire team at ISS for the determination they have shown to raise as much as possible and can’t wait to celebrate the achievements at the end of the year.”
ISS has promoted our heart health information to empower staff to take steps towards a healthier lifestyle, through monthly heart health documents on their intranet, a heart health quiz, promoting No Smoking Day and offering Heart Matters membership service.
ISS has also entered a team into the London to Brighton Bike Ride, during every year of the partnership. In total Team ISS has involved over 300 cyclists, raising more than £140,000.
This year over 400 ISS staff participated in a virtual team challenge to walk the distance from their office in London to the ISS global head office in Copenhagen, which resulted in employees taking 136,122,380 steps and raising over £15,000.
Our Head of Corporate Partnerships, Amit Aggarwal, said: “We are thrilled that ISS has reached this incredible milestone and is continuing to fundraise. The commitment has been fantastic; the team has embraced some of our toughest challenges. As a charity we are reliant on the generosity and commitment of organisations like ISS to continue our fight for every heartbeat. I can’t thank Team ISS enough.”
