Mollie King, from the girl band The Saturdays, took on ITV’s The Cube and won an incredible £100,000 to help us continue our life-saving work.
The show saw Mollie attempt deceivingly simple tasks in a giant cube, testing her ability, nerve and determination to win.
How the prize money will help
The money Mollie has raised will allow us to fund a PhD student’s salary and experimental costs for three years. We support over 200 young scientists and clinicians across the UK in this way to start their career in cardiovascular research.
Mollie says: “The BHF is a cause that is particularly important to me, as my grandfather sadly passed away after suffering a heart attack when I was younger. It’s great to know the money I’ve won will go directly towards funding vital research, support and care to help mums, dads, grandparents or babies born with heart problems.”
Louise Parkes, Director of Fundraising, adds: “We were delighted to hear that Mollie took on The Cube for the BHF. We can’t thank her enough for her generous donation. As a charity we rely on donations like Mollie’s to continue our fight for every heartbeat. The amount Mollie has raised tonight will significantly help us continue our research, support and care for those living with heart disease throughout the UK.”
Mollie is a committed supporter of the BHF having been the face of our Ramp Up The Red fundraising campaign in February for the last two years.
