Gemma Merna visits Liverpool BHF shop

19 December 2014

Gemma Merna visits BHF shop Hollyoaks actress, Gemma Merna, was in our Liverpool shop helping shop staff pick out outfits for the Christmas party season.

Gemma also helped style the shop and dress the windows. She even brought along some of her own clothes to donate to the shop, which will be available until they are snapped up by savvy shoppers.

The Liverpool actress had a clear-out to support the us and donated a range of items to help to raise money and continue its fight for every heartbeat.

Why she is supporting us

Gemma chose to support us following her father’s sudden death from an unexplained heart condition two years ago, one month after giving her away on her wedding day. She’s keen to raise awareness of heart conditions, as well as helping to raise money for the charity.

Gemma says: “I'm really happy to be able to donate the clothes I don't wear anymore to the British Heart Foundation. It's great to know that someone else will get some joy out of them. Plus the money raised from their sale will help the BHF continue to fund life saving research to fight coronary heart disease and could help people like my dad.

“Meeting the volunteers and seeing some of the amazing outfits you can find in BHF shops has been really interesting and I never realised there were so many good quality, fashionable items available. It would be a great place to buy Christmas presents for those on a budget, or for anyone who wants to give something back and help raise money for heart research.”

BHF Area Manager, Lisa Clarke, adds: “We’re really grateful to Gemma for donating her clothes to us, and to everyone else who kindly donates their unwanted clothing, accessories, CDs, DVDs and small household items.

“BHF shops can also be a treasure trove to find great value Christmas gifts, including stocking fillers or Secret Santa gifts. A small budget can go a long way with books priced from books from £2, CDs at £1.50, vintage jumpers from £8 and retro glassware from £3. Every purchase made helps to fund vital, life-saving research into heart disease.”
