This year’s Newcastle Stampede saw more than 2,500 people take on the 10k adventure challenge raising an incredible £70,000 in the fight against heart disease.
Joining the participants at this year's event were the stars from ITV2’s Big Reunion. Members of B*Witched and 911 got involved and tonight you will be able to see how they got on in the special Big Christmas Reunion on ITV2 at 9pm. The show is part of ITV’s flagship fundraising appeal – Text Santa – which we are a benefitting charity of.
The Big Christmas Reunion, which will also be repeated on ITV1 Sunday 15 December at 5.30pm, will show clips from the Newcastle Stampede and see Lee Brennan, 911, speaking to Gemma Bosanko, who was volunteering at the event. Gemma, who has been diagnosed with neurocardiogenic syncopy, a temporary loss of consciousness associated with a drop in arterial blood pressure, quickly followed by a slowed heart rate, explains her condition to Lee and how the BHF have helped her.
Heart failure affects more than 570,000 people in the UK.
Our Event Co-ordinator, Carl Jones, said: “We’re incredibly proud of the amazing fundraising efforts of our supporters who got wet and muddy for a very good cause. Heart failure affects more than 570,000 people in the UK and it’s because of the support of the people taking part in events like this that we are able to continue our fight to find a cure. I can’t wait to see the amazing efforts of those who participated in the Stampede on The Big Christmas Reunion."
Registration is open for the 2014 Newcastle Stampede, which returns on Sunday 19 October 2014.
