Sign up and take on our ultimate endurance event, walking 100km continuously through the day and night, equating to 145,000 steps in the fight against heart disease. This event will be a great experience for those looking for the ultimate challenge, who are ready to put in plenty of training and enjoy what is going to be a serious test of both your mental and physical stamina. You must be 16 years old to take part, and under-18's must be accompanied by an adult. Because of the testing nature of the trek we would recommend that you train for this challenge

Your entry fee covers the cost of organising the event, but it's the money you raise that powers our life saving research. Previous Heart Trekkers have aimed to raise £400, and many look at joining our 500 Club, becoming a champion fundraiser and joining the fight against heart disease.

Travel and parking
There’s parking at Kempton Park Racecourse. You can leave your vehicle here from event day up until midnight on Monday 3 July. It will be left entirely at your own risk. Alternatively you can get dropped off in the morning of the event.
Kempton Park is located on the A308 between Sunbury on Thames and Hampton Court, less than one mile from Junction 1 of the M3 via Junction 12 of the M25.
Kempton Park Station is situated just 200 yards from our registration area at the racecourse. Trains run every half an hour from London Waterloo with a 40 minute journey time.

Car travel and parking
There's plenty of pick up and supporter parking at Blackrock Car Park available from 05:00 Sunday 1 July.
Brighton is less than an hour from London by train and there are services from Victoria, London Bridge and Kings Cross. There are also frequent coastway services operating from Eastbourne, Lewes, Hastings, Worthing and Portsmouth. Please contact National Rail enquiries for more information 08457 48 49 50.

Get fit for your London to Brighton Trek challenge
This event is a real test of endurance and mental strength, and we suggest you start training at least three months before the event, building up your distance mile by mile.
Our new training guide can help you with training schedules, fundraising, footwear plus much more.
Being active is an important part of reducing your risk of developing cardiovascular disease.
Make sure you have the right kit
Take a look at our walking kit list for what to wear on the day and what to bring with you. For this trek take a good look at the list provided in our training guide.
Although there will be sweeper vehicles along the route to collect heart trekkers needing assistance and take them to the most relevant location on the route, we strongly recommend every walker has access to their own support vehicle. This could be a friend or family member at the end of the phone who is available to come and pick you up. Read our Support Driver Information leaflet to find out the location and facilities at each checkpoint.

At the London to Brighton Trek
Our trek takes you from Kempton Racecourse through Guildford, Cranleigh, Henfield along the south coast at Hove and into Brighton. It's quite a flat route but does include a couple of hills. Every walker will be given a map of the route before the walk.
The whole route will be signed with Day-Glo arrows. You will need to check in with marshals at each checkpoint.
We recommend that you walk in pairs or more.
We strongly suggest that you bring a blister kit (including plasters and antiseptic cream)
There will be toilets along the route.
At each checkpoint (approximately every 10-15k), there will be a water stop where there will be varying facilities available to you, including an additional water supply if you running low on water.
During the event there will be points where you can buy refreshments however we would strongly advise you to bring your own supplementary snacks as well.
Kempton Park has its own train station, and at the finish of the full trek there is a free shuttle bus to Brighton train station.
The route is a mix of tarmac paths, riverside paths and gravel and loose stone trails. We suggest light weight waterproof walking shoes for these types of surfaces, but you may find it useful to try different types of foot wear during your training to see what suits you best.
Trekkers are welcome to bring well behaved dogs on the challenge, but they must be able to cope with the distances involved. The decision to bring a dog is entirely at the discretion of the owner.
The BHF are able to transfer any extra luggage you don’t want to carry with you to the finish location of your trek. (Please ensure this is nothing more than one small bag as space will be limited in our vehicles) you should ensure everything you need whilst trekking is in your rucksack as you will not be able to access this additional bag until the finish. Please note, you'll be able to access your luggage at the halfway point.
At the finish
After being presented with your well-deserved medal, hot food, sports massage and a rest area will be provided at the finish along with a warm welcome from your supporters and the BHF events team.

Our exclusive 500 club, for those who smash the minimum sponsorship target for an event and go on to raise over £500.
Your fundraising will make a significant difference to the BHF as we continue our fight against heart disease. The BHF currently supports 2,500 healthcare professionals working with people affected by cardiovascular disease, funding over 1,100 research projects to help us reach our ultimate goal – the end of heart disease and to the devastation it causes.
If you have £500 or more (excluding GiftAid) pledged by your supporters on your JustGiving page firstly congratulations you are amazing! You'll now be eligible to join the 500 Club and receive your exclusive BHF jersey
For teams to be eligible there must be at least £500 or more (excluding Gift Aid) pledged per person, along with the names of all eligible entrants showing on the team fundraising page and each individual needs to fill in a separate form in each case to claim the 500 club jersey.
(E.g A team of 4 would need a minimum of £2000 (exc Gift Aid) pledged on their team page)
