Families with children on the child protection register, on average, have worse health than the wider population.
Hearty Lives Wolverhampton is a £200,000 partnership with Wolverhampton City Council that aims to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease for families with children on the child protection register.
This project will provide diet and physical activity interventions to families with children on the child protection register or identified at need. It will address poor eating behaviours and low levels of physical activity through:
- Hands on education for children and parents on cooking healthy meals.
- Support for families on food and physical activity budgeting.
- Advice around family meal times including sitting down as a family to eat and encouraging children to try healthy food.
- Help identifying opportunities for family physical activities and supporting the family to engage in these.
