Hearty Lives West Norfolk

People walking

We are investing £100,000 over three years to reduce health inequalities and encourage men to adopt healthier lifestyles in some of the most deprived areas of West Norfolk.

Almost one in six men in the UK die from heart disease. Hearty Lives West Norfolk is an innovative programme specifically for men providing free one-to-one support, family activities, sports and cooking classes.

The programme's dedicated Health Trainers help local residents to identify their health goals and improve their wellbeing. They offer a series of sessions with carefully selected activities, one-to-one support and encouragement, to make positive changes to participants' lifestyle.

Hearty Lives West Norfolk also provides local activities and classes such as swimming sessions and cookery skills classes to maintain new interests; participants are welcome to suggest any lifestyle activities that interest them which will then be considered by the group, and family members are welcome to come along too. Support is free and confidential.

Our Aim

  • Make a positive impact on the health and lifestyles of people living in some of the most deprived wards in West Norfolk – particularly around King’s Lynn, Downham Market and Swaffham.
  • Provide and promote local Public Health leadership, by coordinating and supporting a wide range of lifestyle interventions, and building this into the long term aims of the West Norfolk Clinical Commissioning Group.
