“I reignited my passion for cycling”
Since leaving the army Tony had put on weight and lost his overall fitness. Something needed to change. When Tony heard about the cycle to work scheme his new workplace were offering he jumped at the chance to sign up.
“I bought a bike and now regularly cycle to work and back. It was difficult starting back cycling as it was 11 miles to work, so I had to do the 11 miles straight away or not get there!
Taking part in the Health at Work programme has renewed my love of cycling and exercise in general. I now cycle more in my spare time too and have cycled around the battlefields of Ypres in Northern France and around the Bay of Biscay with friends.
Since I began participating in the programme I have lost weight and have more energy
My biggest challenge is yet to come as I will also be undertaking the 'Tour de Y' on behalf of YMCA Cornwall - a charity fundraising cycle ride from Penzance to London. I will be riding 339 miles over 4 days.
I would definitely recommend participating in a Health at Work programme to others. Since I began participating in the programme I have lost weight and have more energy."
