We are delighted to announce the British Heart Foundation have been selected as Kier Group’s Charity of the Year for the next two years.

The two-year partnership will raise £250,000 for vital research in to heart and circulatory conditions as well as train 1,500 Kier colleagues in the lifesaving first aid, CPR.

Kier Lifesavers

The partnership will roll out a ‘Kier Lifesavers’ initiative which will equip colleagues across the business with practical – and potentially lifesaving – CPR skills and information. The Kier Foundation, an independent charity, will hold various fun and engaging fundraising events across the business and encourage employees to raise funds for the charity and help reach the £250,000 two year target.

Working together, the partnership will also highlight the small changes people can make to their lifestyles that can have a very real impact on their heart and circulatory system.

Laying the foundations

Speaking about the new partnership Haydn Mursell, CEO at Kier, said: “Our new corporate charity partner is one that is close to many within Kier. This partnership not only raises vital funds for research but also encourages colleagues to assess their own health and equip them with vital life skills.

“Over the last 50 years, the British Heart Foundation has been at the forefront of pioneering research and cutting-edge innovations, and over the next two years we look forward to helping fight the devastating effects of heart and circulatory disease.”

Simon Gillespie, Chief Executive at the British Heart Foundation, said: “Heart and circulatory disease kills around 150,000 people each year in the UK – that’s one person every three minutes. We urgently need to fund more research to help end this heartbreak and save lives. So we’re absolutely delighted to have been chosen as Kier’s charity partner. It’s thanks to the support of companies like Kier that we can fund life saving research to help the seven million people in the UK living with heart and circulatory disease.”
