Get fit for your challenge

Make sure you have the right kit

You should wear comfortable, appropriate clothing and footwear suitable for cycling. Take a look at our recommended cycling kit list for what to wear on the day and what to bring with you, or treat yourself to some new gear from our online cycling shop.

Get your friends and family involved

Your family and friends could be part of the action as well. Why not ask them to take part with you, or they could come and cheer you on. Ask them to look the part and ramp up the red.

Route and times

Choose from two circular routes, either 22 or 40 miles. Both routes start from the historic city of York and take in some of North Yorkshire's breathtaking countryside.

The routes are on road and suitable for road, mountain and hybrid bikes. All riders must wear a helmet. No roads are closed and both routes are along B roads.

22 miles

Our 22 mile route provides flat, easy riding through farmland and countryside including the eerie moorland of Strensall Common.

40 miles

Challenge yourself to take on the eerie moorland of Strensall Common, through Howardian Hills and past Castle Howard. The route then takes you through the undulating Bulmer Bank with a tough ascent in the picturesque village of Hovingham followed long descent to Terrington Bank on the way back to York.
