All change! (An Ode to my Heart Attack)

A close-up of a clock

Neil Rafferty had a heart attack at work in July 2012 and wrote this poem that same evening.

Don't have the time, I've got things to do,

Busy today and no time for you,

Will do it later, no need to worry,

Why is my life lived in this hurry?

Ow! What's that? Indigestion?

Numbness, pain and perspiration?

Oh my god, it's happened to me,

All of a sudden my diary’s now free!
