Helen - fundraising volunteer

Helen Fox - Fundraising Volunteer of the Year

Helen Fox began volunteering with the BHF after hearing an inspiring talk at school. 30 years later, she has raised over £600,000. In recognition of her incredible efforts Helen has received the prestigious Point of Light award from the Prime Minister.

Who better to tell you about Helen's achievements than her colleagues. Stacey Smalley is the local Fundraising Volunteer Manager for Devon and Cornwall;

"I am so proud to know and work with Helen, she is the kind of person who just ‘does what she can’ and doesn’t realise how amazing she is.

"Helen joined the newly formed Liskeard branch of the British Heart Foundation in 1985 when she was a pupil at Liskeard senior school, from that moment she wanted to support the BHF and the committee.

"Helen was on a mission, she went back to school and raised over £500 within a couple of months through various activities (dress down days, tuck shop and sponsored event).

"When I met Helen I was astonished to find out she had been volunteering for 30 years and she was still only 45! She is so passionate about the BHF and gives 200% to everything.

"Last year the BHF Liskeard branch celebrated 30 years and she encouraged the whole group to help her organise 30 events during their Anniversary Year. Helen is always keen to make the most of every opportunity and take on new challenges for the group.

"Helen is the most inspirational Fundraiser I have ever met, she is as excited and passionate now as she was 30 years ago.  Helen is also a great advocate for her generation to join fundraising groups, she brings so much life to Liskeard, her laugh and smile are infectious - no one can say 'no' to her!”
