We teamed up with Lloyds Pharmacy in 2010 for two years to help raise money and awareness of our Mending Broken Hearts appeal. Lloyds Pharmacy helped raise £250,000 through staff and customer fundraising.

Improving heart health

Lloyds Pharmacy saw partnering with the BHF as a natural step in caring for the nation’s heart health. As a national community pharmacy and healthcare provide, looking after the health of their customers is a top priority.

To promote our partnership, Lloyds launched a range of products aimed at improving heart health, such as affordable blood pressure monitors, free blood pressure and cholesterol and heart checks.

Working together

The partnership launched with a company-wide Wear Red to Work day in February 2011.

Pharmacies undertook other fundraising activities, including celebrating World Heart day in September and dressing up in scary outfits for Halloween.

Employees also took part in the legendary London to Brighton Bike Ride, Great North Run, London Marathon and have even been jumping out of planes to raise money.

Staff were also able to visit one of our research centres at Birmingham University to see how their money is helping fund our life saving research.

Iqbal Gill, Regional Director for Lloyds Pharmacy said: "The depth of challenges faced and the need for ongoing support to help continue your work was very apparent. I would also like to add, how very impressed I was by the passion and enthusiasm within your team, both for their individual work, but also the passion for the team as a whole."
