During our year-long partnership, the De Vere Group engaged its 63 properties to fundraise for us.
One of the major fundraising events included a celebration of Burns Night on 25th of January, 2013 at the De Vere Venues Wokefield Park, near Reading. The black tie charity dinner consisted of a live auction and a raffle which offered the winner a brand new Mini Cooper. The evening raised an incredible £84,522.
Stepping up to the challenge
Other highlights included De Vere Group colleagues collecting and donating clothes, books and bric-a-brac to local BHF shops and taking part in a ‘Step Challenge’. This pedometer challenge saw over 320 participants virtually walk from Lands’ End to John O’Groats in just four weeks. Together, they took over 80,000,000 steps, approximately 40,000 miles and raised over £14,000.
De Vere employees across the country organized a host of fundraising activities from charity golf events and family fun days to wearing red. Colleagues also took part in several fundraising events including the Virgin Money London Marathon 2013, our London to Paris Bike Ride and our Manchester to Blackpool Night Bike Ride, which both took place in 2012. De Vere customers were also encouraged to contribute to the cause by adding a donation to their room booking bill.
Amit Aggarwal, Head of Corporate Partnerships at the BHF, said: "We are delighted to have had the support of the De Vere Group. Their support and fundraising
efforts have played a crucial role in the fight for every heartbeat. We rely on the support from staff and customers at companies like the De Vere Group to continue our life-saving research.”
Andrew Coppel, CBE, Group Chief Executive of the De Vere Group, said: “We are thrilled to have raised such a great amount for the British Heart Foundation and we are hugely proud of every one of our employees who did something that helped us to raise the money.”
