Milton Keynes Children's Bike Ride

As we aim to inspire as many people as possible to jump on their bikes and use their pedal power to support our life saving research, we're delighted to be introducing the Milton Keynes Children's Bike Ride - allowing all mini Heart Riders to show their support.

Designed for under 16s, but perfect fun for the whole family - this brand new route provides the opportunity for new and younger cyclists to take part in a completely traffic free, fun-filled adventure - and see for themselves just how much fun can be had on two wheels.

The ride will take in the beautiful Campbell Park and Willen Lake in Milton Keynes. All participants will get to choose from a 5km or 8km distance. The course is largely flat - but there is one hill that will put muscles to the test.

London to Milton Keynes Bike Ride

The event also shares the same finish line as our main London to Milton Keynes Bike Ride - so if you're taking part in the full event this presents a unique opportunity to cycle the final furlongs and cross the finish line alongside your children/any young loved ones who might be coming to see you cross the finish line.

No Bike? No Problem!

Bike hire will also be available for people looking to take part in the children's ride. We will release information about this service shortly - keep checking this page for more information.

The route

On- Road

You'll soon escape the traffic buzz of London passing under the M25 and straight out onto country roads which wind through the picturesque Hertfordshire countryside. Skirting between cities and via country villages before riding through Woburn Park and finally dropping down into Milton Keynes. Here you join the city’s famous cycle path network into the heart of the city centre, finishing on the shores of Willen Lake.

Your ride leaves the hubbub of London on an easy going and peaceful cycle path through Lee Valley Park before exploring a range of trails through the Hertfordshire countryside. Ranging from bridleways, rough tracks to quiet roads all the way to Milton Keynes where you finally join cycle paths. The tracks are never too rough or tough, but the physical challenge shouldn't be underestimated. We recommended a good MTB or Adventure bike.

The event is fully supported by First Aiders and marshals, and the route is fully signed.

Support vehicles are also available to collect you and your bike from any checkpoint should you find you are unable to complete the challenge and wish to retire from the ride.

Mechanics are supporting the event, but given the length of the route they may take some time to reach you. Please ensure you have the knowledge and equipment to fix any punctures and carry out basic bike repairs yourself.

Spectators are welcome to attend this event, but we advise that you don't bring pets.
