It’s within your power to help us make the next leap forward; to enable children to grow up healthy and spare more families the anxiety, fear and loss caused by heart disease.
Why leave us a gift in your Will?
Coronary heart disease is the single biggest killer in the UK; with over half a million people living with heart failure. That's why we are leading the fight through programmes to keep hearts healthy, teach people CPR, and through life saving research; which provides better prevention, better diagnosis and better treatments.
Research takes time though. We are doing as much as we can to speed up turning work in the lab into life saving medical advances. Gifts in Wills play a vital part in enabling our research to continue, as they make up half of our income. It's thanks to them we're able to have the long term investment to keep research going.
If you want to end heart disease then please include the BHF in your Will.
£450 pays for the kit for a laboratory scientist working in heart attack research, giving them the basic equipment they need to measure out volumes of liquids for experiments.
£1,000 will pay for all the protein 'building blocks' our scientists need in a month as they try to build new working heart tissue for people with heart failure.
£11,000 pays for a month of a heart disease research programme led by a scientist, in a lab with a group of researchers.
Legacies save lives
We have been funding pioneering research projects for over 50 years, contributing to amazing advances in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease.
Our research has played a key part. From long-term pacemakers or advanced heart transplantation, through to the development of widely used treatments today such as aspirin or statins.
Bronnach, 35, had a very serious heart attack soon after she gave birth and quickly had to undergo emergency open heart surgery.
Fortunately, the surgery saved her life, but Bronnach now lives with constant fatigue, shortness of breath and cannot work.
Our research helped develop pioneering heart surgery techniques so that people like Bronnach can survive. Now our researchers are finding ways to make damaged heart tissue regenerate, so that in future we can mend hearts like Bronnach’s too.
The fight against heart disease isn't over and we will continue to fund innovative research to find better ways of preventing and treating it. Think what a gift in your Will could achieve. Whatever size of gift you make, your support will help us beat heart disease.
