The Labour Party Manifesto

Here’s our analysis of The Labour Party's commitments to work for people at risk of and living with Cardiovascular Disease.

  • Labour has focused on introducing a new long-term funding policy framework for science and innovation. While this is welcome, we have not seen a commitment to the ring-fence of the science budget that we’ve been calling for.
  • Prevention - they have shown a positive intention to look into how to better protect children from TV advertising of products high in sugar, fat and salt, but have stopped short of backing our call for an end to this advertising before the 21:00 watershed.
  • We welcome the commitment to ensure that by the time they leave school, all young people will have had access to emergency first aid training including CPR. However, we would have liked to have seen a greater emphasis on the mandatory element which is central to our call.
  • Joining up services, creating a whole person approach and providing better information and advice on managing conditions are all welcome commitments given by the Labour Party on health and social care integration. We would be keen to see more detail on how these would be achieved.
