What is the fund?
We want to transform the way the millions of people affected by heart disease are cared for so that they can live the life they most enjoy.
Your ideas are their hope for a better future.
The Hope for Hearts Fund focuses on the specific challenge of heart failure. There is up to £1 million available to test and evaluate innovative approaches to deliver better heart failure care and services.
- Have you got a great idea that could transform how people with heart failure experience care?
- Have you thought about how technology could radically improve the way services are designed and delivered?
- Do you long to introduce simple changes that could lead to huge impact?
If you’ve got a truly innovative idea, we can help you make it a reality.
We want to hear from you if you are a public sector organisation or not-for-profit academic institution with a truly innovative idea.

Why is this fund needed?
In the last ten years, hospital episodes attributable to heart failure have risen by 60% in the UK.
Now more than 580,000 people are on their GP's heart failure register.
There is considerable variation across the UK in access to evidence based pathways for the diagnosis and treatment of heart failure.
This fund is, in part, made possible by Novartis UK through their voluntary donation of USD1m to the BHF (circa £750k). The BHF will add funds to make a total of £1m.
