Our patron

HRH Prince Phillip

The BHF is honoured to have the support of His Royal Highness The Prince Phillip KG KT, who has been our Patron since the Charity was founded in 1961.

As His Royal Highness wrote in his foreword to the book "50 years at the Heart of Health": "It is clear that much progress has been made in reducing the number of premature deaths, but heart and circulatory disease still remains the most frequent cause of death in this country. The need for the BHF is as great as ever.

"Researchers could not have achieved their major advances without the help of grants from the BHF, and these would not have been possible without generous donations from the public."

Recently, Prince Philip hosted our Annual Reception at St James’s Palace following his 55 year patronage. The Duke of Edinburgh met with our volunteers, donors, researchers and supporters to thank them for their instrumental help in the fight for every heartbeat.
