UK Government support for research is vital to help us make the most of our investment and ensure that medical research improves the lives of people living with heart disease.
Whilst we do not receive any funding from Government, we often fund in partnership with government bodies such as the Medical Research Council. UK Government also supports universities to make use of charity investment for research by providing funding to cover indirect research costs, such as heating and lighting. This funding, which is known as the Charity Research Support Fund, ensures that your generous donations can be spent on actual research, not university overheads.
We were very pleased that the Government recognised the benefits of research by protecting the Government science budget in real terms at the 2015 Spending Review.
