Mutual support
The great thing about attending a your local stop smoking service is that you will feel less alone in your attempt to give up. Being with other people who also want to stop provides a sense of being understood, mutual encouragement and a bit of friendly competition!

Free NRT products
The combination of going to a local service and using NRT products can be a really successful one. You may find that you even qualify for free nicotine replacement products or Zyban, which are often used alongside group counselling.

One-to-one sessions
Don’t worry, if you don’t like idea of being with other people then you might find one-to-one sessions are for you. You can get help from a trained adviser or councillor on an individual basis. They will give you the same support, encouragement and motivation.

How long does a course last?
Most groups and one-to-one counselling usually run over a period of about six weeks and take you through all the different stages of stopping.
