Senior Clinical Research
Fellowship
("SCRF")
Purpose:
To
provide a career opportunity in an established research institution
in the UK for outstanding individuals who are expected to reach
Readership or Chair level within 10 years.
Entry requirement:
• Usually 3-6 years
successful post-doc, with CCT. Likely to have held a Clinical
Lectureship or Intermediate Fellowship
• Residency requirements apply – check eligibility in

Grants (please see section 11).
Duration of grant:
5 years, with the
possibility of competitive renewal for up to 5 years. On renewal it
will be expected that the host institution will provide at least
50% of the fellow’s salary. Within the first 5 years, up to 1 year
of the award may be spent overseas subject to a justified case
being made.
Award may include:
• Salary of
applicant
• Salary of technician or research assistant if required and fully
justified
• Research consumables, directly attributable to the project
• Research equipment essential for the project

The application must be written by the applicant. Short-listed

• Add the following additional information:
– Full CV of the applicant and career intentions
– Letter of support from the Head of Department
– A work plan defining research and clinical PAs
Number of copies required:
12 collated copies of the application form and supporting
information.
Decision process:
There are no closing dates. Please submit the application when it
is ready. Receipt will be acknowledged within 1 month and we will
advise you when you can expect the result. Short-listed candidates
will usually be interviewed and a decision on this will be reached
by the Fellowships Committee (4 meetings a year) after it has
considered external peer review reports. Allow 9 months from
submission to decision.
