Career Re-entry Research
Fellowship
("CRERF")
Purpose:
To provide an opportunity to re-establish a career in
cardiovascular science in an established research institution in
the UK, after a break of more than two years.
Entry requirement:
• Successful post-doc returning after a 2 year (or more) career
break
• Residency requirements apply – check eligibility in
General Information on Research
Grants (please see section 11).
Duration of grant:
3 years with the possibility of a 1 year extension if a strong case
can be made (e.g. that this will lead to a competitive application
for a more senior personal award).
Award may include:
• Salary of
applicant
• Salary of technician or research assistant if required and fully
justified
• Research consumables, directly attributable to the project
• Research equipment essential for the project
How to apply:
The application must be written by the applicant. Candidates may be
interviewed. Please read the documents listed in Application Checklist
What to submit:
• Completed application form: Form
CREFR
• Detailed research proposal and other information as listed in
Application Checklist
• Add the following additional information:
– Full CV of the candidate and career intentions
– Letter of support from the Head of Department
– Brief CV of the supervisor(s) (2 A4 sides max)
– Brief CV of staff member (if required)
Number of copies required:
12 collated copies of the application form and supporting
information
Decision process:
There are no closing dates. Please submit the application when it
is ready. Receipt will be acknowledged within 1 month and we will
advise you when you can expect the result. Candidates may be
interviewed and a decision on this will be reached by the
Fellowships Committee (4 meetings a year) after it has considered
external peer review reports. Allow 9 months from submission to
decision.
