Incidence
The incidence of heart attack and
stroke has decreased in the UK over the past three
decades.
There are 124,000 heart attacks in the UK every year.
It is also estimated that 62,000 English men and 39,000 English
women have heart attacks every year.
Data from Scotland shows that the number of people having heart
attacks has reduced by 25
per cent between 2000 and 2009 in both men and
women. It is estimated that there are around 8,000 heart attacks in
Scottish men and 5,000 in Scottish women every year.
There are around 152,000 incidences of stroke in the UK every
year.
