I have two children who have to live with this condition with me
 |
Mum-of-two Lorraine was aged just 42 when
she had a massive heart attack, which left her with heart
failure.
“I’ve never smoked, I’m not a
big drinker, I eat healthily, keep
active and have no family history
of heart problems. I don’t tick any risk factor boxes. Then one day
I had a heart attack and I am now living
with heart failure.
"It’s not going to get any better. I have to take a cocktail of
drugs. I’m tired a lot of the
time. I can’t exercise in the way I used to. I don’t look or
feel the same and it depresses me.
“I have two children who have to live with this condition with
me. I'm grateful to be alive but I have had to change the way I
live which has, of course, affected them.
“That’s why I’m excited about the potential of regenerative
medicine for people like me, and future generations. We could
come off medication. We could play with our
children. We could live the life we had before."
