New heart plan petition has now closed
A big thank you to everyone who took part by
signing the petition either in our Shops up and down the country,
or by signing it online.
We had an overwhelming response –
over 160,000 of you took part -
helping us send a really strong message to the
Government – that we need a new heart plan in England to tackle the
UK’s biggest killer.
Peter Hollins, Chief Executive delivered
the petition directly to Number 10 on 1 March 2010
- the week of the anniversary of the publication of the
Governments current plan to tackle heart disease.
What next?
Following our campaign for a new heart plan and the launch of
our petition, the Government has agreed to review
their current plan for heart disease and the BHF is working closely
with them on this.
There's still more that you can do!
With the General Election fast approaching, now
is a great time to take part in our
online lobby and reinforce
all the support that we’ve had for the new heart plan petition.
It’s really quick and easy, so
join in now and tell your local politicians that they
must commit to a renewed approach to tackling
heart and circulatory disease.
Is this campaign only for England?
Our campaign focused on England because the current plan for
England (known as the National Service Framework)
reached its tenth anniversary in 2010.
Similar frameworks in Scotland, Wales
and Northern Ireland are in
use by health services until 2011 and beyond.
