A healthy lifestyle gives more heart protection than daily

A new study has shown that drinking
tea can slow down the build up of fatty
deposits in the coronary arteries, which could lead a
heart attack or stroke – but we say
eating healthily, not smoking and staying
active will do more to keep your heart healthy.
The study, published in the Journal of the
American Heart Association, found that 18 to 30 year-olds who drank
tea built up fatty deposits in their coronary arteries at a slower
rate in later life.
Our senior cardiac nurse, June Davison, said:
“This study suggests drinking tea can slow down the build up of
fatty deposits in our coronary arteries, which can lead to a heart
attack or stroke.
“We already know that tea may have some
heart health benefits. But we can’t simply rely on
downing a cuppa to keep our hearts healthy. It’s much more
important to eat a healthy diet and make sure we
stay active.”
