Spring into Easter with our top tips

Spring and the Easter holidays are now here! We've got some great tips for you, including how to get the best out of your Easter egg and how to get fitter this Spring.

Our top tips below can help you enjoy a healthy and happy Easter break.

Chocolate

Go easy on the chocolate

Chocolate may be good for your heart in very small doses, but always remember, chocolate is high in saturated fat and calories, with milk chocolate typically containing over 16g of saturated fat and 500 calories per 100g! Opt for a small sized, plain egg and don’t eat it all in one go!

Easter eggs

Have an eggy brekkie

Don't skip breakfast as it is one of the most important meals of the day. For a filling and healthy start to the day, try a boiled egg with toasted wholemeal bread and some pure, unsweetened fruit juice.

Kids in tree

Have an Easter hunt

For a fun Easter activity that the kids will enjoy as well as keeping them active, organise an Easter hunt. Instead of chocolate eggs, you can hide prizes such as painted and decorated hard boiled eggs or hollow plastic eggs filled with small presents.

walking

Get your shoes on

Take advantage of the lighter evenings and the weather getting warmer by going for brisk walks. With a bit more time over the Easter break, why not take the family out for a day of fun activities in the open air.

Yoga DVD

Go for an alternative gift

Instead of giving chocolate this Easter, why not buy your friends and family an alternative gift. Visit our online shop or send an ecard - there's lots of ways to find the perfect present - and you'll be helping us keep up our life-saving work too.

Man vacuuming

Have a spring cleanout!

Why not use the Easter break to have a good spring clean at home. Why not donate your unwanted stuff to our shops or furniture and electrical stores? Household tasks like vacuuming and sweeping or washing the car all count towards your recommended 30 minutes of physical activity per day too. Why not kick start this by joining our Heart Matters service today!
