Questions - Jobs with us

How will I be notified of vacancies?

If you wish to be notified of vacancies within the BHF you can register on our job sites and sign up for job alerts. You will then receive email notifications of vacancies that go live. We have 2 job sites so please make sure you register on the right one for the type of vacancy you are interested in. Interested in retail jobs, sign up for retail job alerts or for home and office based roles sign up office and homes based Job Alerts.

How do I apply for a job?

To apply for jobs you need to do so online via our job sites.

If you are disabled and need assistance to do so please call the recruitment team directly on 0300 330 5473

Why are my login details not working?

There are 2 reasons why you may be unable to login:

Passwords are case sensitive and need to be manually entered rather than pasted in.

We have 2 job sites, one for retail only vacancies and one for office and home based vacancies. If you have already registered on one of these sites your login details will not work for the other, unfortunately you will need to register again and remember use the correct login details for each site.

Can I change my user name and password?

To edit your details please sign in to your account, click on the 'my details' heading in the Career panel, edit and confirm.

Do you accept paper based applications?

So that we are able to consider each and every application equally and our process is consistent and fair we require applicants to complete our online process. This way we have the same information for everyone and it allows us to track your application and monitor the recruitment process more efficiently and effectively.

When will I hear about the outcome of my application?

It is our policy to acknowledge all applications regardless of whether they are successful or not. You will receive feedback about your application at each stage of the recruitment process. This includes an automated email to acknowledge receipt of your application and subsequent correspondence by phone or email to inform you of the outcome of your application and any interviews you attend.

We aim to advise applicants of the initial status of their application within one week of the advertising end date and feedback on interview outcomes within 2 days unless otherwise stated.

What is our policy on criminal convictions?

To find out about our policy on criminal convictions and Criminal Records Disclosures you can read our CRB policy statement. If you require any further information please contact the Recruitment Manager on 0207 554 0022

You can also find out about Our Policies including our policy on Animal Research and Stem Cell Research.

Do you offer work placements or internship, apprenticeship and office based volunteer opportunities?

The BHF has a retail apprenticeship scheme and internship programme and also offers some work placements/experience and office based volunteering opportunities.

Our retail apprenticeship scheme offers school and college leavers the opportunity to gain formal retail qualifications as well as on site retail experience. Further information as well as application details can be found about our retail apprenticeship scheme

Our internship opportunities are advertised on our jobs site along with our vacancies. As with our vacancies you can sign up for job alerts and we will alert you when an internship opportunity arises.  As internships are unpaid you will need to leave the desired salary field blank when completing your registration in order to receive notifications for internship opportunities.

If you wish to discuss work placements/experience you should contact our Learning and Development Team on 0207 554 0193.

If you are interested in office based volunteering you can sign up online and someone from our team will get back to you.  Register your details for volunteering opportunities.

Does the BHF pay interview expenses?

As a charity it is our policy not to reimburse interview expenses unless we believe an unreasonable expectation has been made of an applicant.

We make every effort to ensure and consider it reasonable, that applicants attend interviews on the site for which we are recruiting or for home based roles within the area the role covers.

Where this is not possible and interview expenses are to be reimbursed applicants will be notified when invited to attend an interview.
