Maintaining a healthy weight
Gaining a little
weight at certain times of the year is normal. But eating a little
bit too much, and not doing enough activity, can all add up over
time and cause real problems.
Tips for maintaining a healthy weight
- Stick to a regular meal pattern.
- Make sure your portion sizes aren’t too
big.
- Take care that your calorie (energy)
intake is right - keep an eye on the amount of fat and sugar you
eat.
- Follow a healthy balanced diet.
- Be physically active.
Why do we gain weight?
If
you take in more energy (calories) than your body
uses up, you will gain weight. The extra calories that you’ve
consumed will be stored as fat which results in weight gain. If
you’re not physically active, you’re even more likely to gain
weight.
