What is Heartstart?

Heartstart training courses are free and only take two hours. The course is suitable for all ages and covers a range of Emergency Life Support Skills (ELS) including:

  • dealing with an unconscious casualty
  • cardiac arrest
  • suspected heart attack
  • choking
  • serious bleeding.

There are around 60,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests in the UK every year. When someone goes into cardiac arrest, every minute without CPR and defibrillation reduces their chances of survival by 10 per cent.
