Hearty Lives Sparkhill and Sparkbrook

South Asian men at fruit stall

Men and women under 75, living in Birmingham, are more likely to die from coronary heart disease than those in the rest of England.

Hearty Lives Sparkhill & Sparkbrook is a £100,000 investment over the next three years to boost your community’s heart health. Working alongside the British Red Cross, we’ll be creating new activities in the community to enable people to live healthier and happier lives. And we need your help!

In Birmingham:

  • Men are 43 per cent more likely to die early from coronary heart disease than the national average for England
  • Women are 29 per cent more likely die early from coronary heart disease than the national average for England

Our aim

We’re looking for volunteers to join our new community health action team to help improve the heart health of your community. The community health action team is a great way to:

  • learn new skills
  • meet new people
  • help others in the community
  • be involved in creating new activities, such as cooking clubs, exercise groups or weight loss clubs
  • get free training and a certificate

We’ll provide you with all the training you need, so you don’t need any special skills or experience to join.
