Home Retail Group
Home Retail Group, the UK’s leading home and general
merchandise retailer, has chosen the British Heart Foundation
(BHF) as its first ever group charity partner in a two year
relationship from July 2008 to 2010.
Employees at Home Retail Group, the UK’s leading home and
general merchandise retailer – encompassing leading brands Argos
and Homebase – voted by an overwhelming majority to choose BHF from
a short list of charities.
‘Keeping Hearts Beating’
The partnership, called ‘Keeping Hearts Beating’, is
hoping to raise £2million for BHF, which will help fund
defibrillators and associated training to support communities
across the UK.
When someone has a cardiac arrest, rapid access to a
defibrillator can mean the difference between life and death.
If a shock is delivered within 2-3 minutes the chances of survival
increases by 60%. Over 6,000 defibrillators have been placed
in the community by BHF since 1996, which have already helped to
save hundreds of lives. The money raised by Home Retail Group
from this partnership will help BHF to place even more vital
defibrillators, potentially helping to save many more lives.
"Home Retail Group is really excited to be supporting the
nation’s heart charity through this two-year charity partnership.
We are committed to supporting the local and national communities
in which we operate, and hope that our ‘Keeping Hearts Beating’
campaign will make a real impact on them."
