Weight Watchers
We launched our partnership with Weight
Watchers in January 2005. Together we have carried out a wide
variety of engaging activities which have inspired over 1,700
Leaders and 1 million members across the UK to raise vital funds
and take steps to look after their own hearts.
Beating heart disease together
Weight Watchers staff, Leaders and members have helped raise
vital funds for the BHF through;
- Activities in meetings - from raffles and cake sales
to sponsored slims and walks.
- Get Active - a joint initiative to encourage Leaders and
members to get more active and raise vital funds for the BHF by
organising their own sponsored walk.
- World Experience treks - exclusive and challenging treks
in Europe.
- Mobile phone recycling - distributed recycling envelopes
through meetings.
- Sales promotions - donations from Weight Watchers through
a selection of products sold in meetings from a Keep Me Bag to a
joint branded healthy recipe cook book.
- Employee fundraising - through payroll giving and by
supporting our fundraising campaigns and events including the
London to Brighton Bike Ride, National Heart Month and the Big
Donation stock appeal.
We have also worked with Weight Watchers to raise awareness of
the benefits of leading a healthier lifestyle:
- Heart disease statistics, risk factors and heart health tips
and information in Weight Watchers magazine, weekly meeting
materials, meeting topics and on their website.
- Weight Watchers have donated free advertising for BHF campaigns
on their website, and in their magazine and meeting materials.
- Joint PR campaigns.
Partnership impact
- To date the partnership has raised over £1 million which is
already being used to help save more lives.
- We have been able to communicate healthy lifestyle messages to
over 1 million Weight Watchers Leaders and members across the
UK.
- Over 100 Weight Watchers’ members have taken part in the tailor
made Weight Watchers’ overseas treks for the BHF raising over
£200,000.
- Generated 274 press cuttings, just under 60 million
opportunities to see and an AVE of around £570,000.
- Weight Watchers won ”Outstanding Results in Building Community
Support” at BHF’s Heart of Business Awards, 2008.
