The FA

The British Heart Foundation was delighted to be chosen as one of The Football Association’s (FA) Charity Partners in January 2006.

The partnership represents a fantastic synergy between two organisations who both strongly believe in getting people active and encouraging people to look after their own heart health.

This unique 3 year partnership incorporates a number of fundraising and promotional elements for the BHF, including donated memorabilia and match day tickets for fundraising auctions and prize draws, hospitality and benefiting from The FA Community Shield.

The FA has already smashed its £300k fundraising target, raising over £345k so far to date, £100k of which went to help fund a new MRI Scanner and Catheter Laboratory at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Reaching new audiences

The link to The FA has enabled the BHF to communicate its key messages in pioneering ways to new audiences, winning them an award at the BHF’s Heart of Business Awards in June 2008.

In September 2007 The FA promoted the powerful BHF Doubt Kills campaign in an A4 advert that appeared in the England v Israel match day programme at Wembley in September 2007 which enabled the BHF to get vital health messages across to fans.

The FA also initiated a £1 donation to the BHF for every FA Cup final programme sold at the first FA Cup final at the new Wembley stadium in 2007 that was bought by over 100,000 fans.

The FA also organised the appearance by Michael Carrick at the BHF’s The Beat campaign launch which has been invaluable to the BHF in instigating new relationships with donors and thanking long-term supporters.

"Here at The FA we know how important it is for people to keep active and lead a healthy lifestyle in order to look after themselves, and their hearts. That's why we really support what the BHF is trying to achieve.

"Heart disease can affect everyone including workmates, footballers and fans so it is important to us that we are able to support the life-saving work that the BHF does."
