Duggie Fields
Madonna and Heart
Silkscreen Print
Image Size: 445 X 580 mm
Paper Size: 585 X 760 mm
Madonna and Heart perfectly
represents Duggie Fields' hard-edged post-pop ethos.
Fields combines striking
modernity with a traditional
image of the Madonna.
This is an interesting play on the Catholic
iconography of the sacred heart.
In the image, her attention is not focused on a child, but on
a heart which is a living biological organ.

About the artist
Duggie Fields was born in Tidworth in 1945, and studied
at the Chelsea School of Art from 1964-1968. Fields' background in
Architecture led him to start working with digital media in the
late 1990s, describing his work in progress as "MAXIMAList".
Despite his concern with the
identity-dissolving impact of mass media on the contemporary
psyche, Fields manages to sustain a coherent signature style that
is as flamboyantly dysfunctional as it is cool and simple.
His work has been exhibited in solo and
group exhibitions across the world, from the 1970s to the present
day.
