Blenheim Palace Half Marathon, 10k and Family Fun
Run event information
Join us in October 2014 for 13.1 miles of
hard work and determination and an immense sense of pride
when you cross the finish line. Open to anyone over 17 years of
age, this half marathon takes you on undulating, tarmac paths
through the stunning Blenheim estate and out on traffic free roads
in nearby villages, and is suitable for wheelchair users.
We also have a 10k to tempt you, which offers all the
benefits of the half marathon, such as full marshalling, chip
timing and free t-shirt. The 10k run follows tarmac paths within
the Blenheim estate.
To get all the family involved we have the Family Fun Run,
taking place after the Half Marathon and 10k this is the perfect
chance to get little ones to join in with the fun with a gentle 2k

Note that children must be at least 17 years old to take part in
the Half Marathon.
Under 16's taking part in the 10k and Family Fun Run must be
accompanied by a responsible adult. Participants taking part in the

Fundraising funds research
that saves lives. In 1961 the number of children born with
a heart defect who survived to their first birthday was around only
20 per cent. Today that figure is 80 per cent, thanks to procedures
such as valve replacement that help them lead improved lives.
For all our success, there's a lot still to be done. Heart
disease is still the UK's single biggest killer. Surgery techniques
can still be improved. And there are exciting developments in
genetics and stem cell technology.

There is plenty of free parking at Blenheim Palace.
Travel and parking
Please allow plenty of time to arrive and park at the Palace (at
least one hour) as there will be several thousand runners arriving
at the same time and we want to avoid queuess and congestion where
possible. Please follow BHF Event car parking signs on arrival to

on the A44 from the south please use the main visitor gate. If you
are travelling on the A44 from the north please use the Woodstock

On the day
There will be toilets at the start and finish and en route.
Water will be available at all of the marshal points -
approximately 5km, and at the finish line.
A luggage store will be available in the Event Village along
with changing facilities. There is plenty of catering outlets on

The route is all on tarmac and therefore perfect for
participants in wheelchairs. Please contact us in advance to arrange
easy access to the start line.
Equipment and what to wear
Please see the kit list for
recommended clothing and equipment. Remember to collect your
t-shirt from the registration point when you arrive - we want a
colourful convoy of red running through Blenheim Palace estate.
This is a challenging run and you'll need to have a good level
of fitness to take part.
For expert tips, training schedules and advice, visit the training zone. Remember the golden
rules of exercise: start gently, build up gradually and do it
regularly. Make sure you set achievable goals, which help you to
monitor your fitness and boost your confidence when you achieve
them. Always wear appropriate gear, and if you have any medical
condition or health concerns that may affect you on the day, speak
to your doctor about it prior to the event.

This event is fully marshaled for your safety, with first aid

the finish line, however they need to buy a ticket in order to gain
entry to the Palace and Gardens. Blenheim Palace are offering
discounted entry tickets for spectators and you can save more
if booked before 31 July 2014 -
book your spectator passes.
Dogs are not allowed on route but are welcome to accompany
spectators (just remember your pooper scooper).
