Jump Rope for Heart - For Parents
What is Jump Rope For Heart?
Jump Rope For Heart is the British Heart Foundation's
educational fundraising programme, designed to help
children skip their way to health.
This popular programme is recognised by the thousands of
schools that take part as a healthy, fun and challenging
aerobic activity that gets children active, while raising
money for both your child’s school and to help fund the fight
against heart disease.
Once registered, schools receive a free skipping
resource kit (containing equipment worth over £100) to
help them introduce and develop skipping to children, including
skipping ropes, sponsorship forms, posters and an extensive
Teachers Manual.
When the children have mastered the basic skipping skills a
Jump Off (a sponsored skip) is held, which can
involve one class or the whole school, teachers and parents!
The total sponsorship money raised is split:
- 20% is retained by the school to spend however
they wish,
- 80% used by the BHF to fund pioneering research into the causes
and treatment of heart disease, patient care and support.
Your child will be given a sponsorship form and
after the Jump Off all children who have raised money will receive
a certificate to say that they have taken
part. Children who have raise over £50 will
get either a junior or senior rucksack.
The children’s individual totals will not be recorded, but will
be pooled into a single school total.
So why don’t you get involved and ask friends
and family to support your child’s Jump Off!
