Midlands
Co-operative Society
The British Heart Foundation (BHF) was delighted to be chosen
as Midlands Co-operative Society’s official charity partner for
2008 and 2009. In the first year Midlands Co-op has raised a
phenomenal £200,000 for the life-saving work of
the BHF and the commitment and enthusiasm of Midlands Co-op
staff has been overwhelming. We look forward to another successful
fundraising year in 2009.
Midlands Co-op is the largest independent
regional Co-operative society in the UK and includes food and
non-food stores, funeral homes, travel shops, post offices and
petrol stations. It trades principally across Derbyshire,
Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire, Staffordshire,
Warwickshire and parts of the West Midlands.
The first year of the partnership has been a great success
with Midlands Co-op staff taking part in fashion shows, leg shaves,
sponsored walks, quizzes, mad hatter tea parties, spooky halloween
events and even pyjama parties to name just a few of the events
that have been happening across the Midlands this year.
"As with all previous campaigns, our
partnership with the BHF looks set to be very successful, with lots
of fundraising planned. The money raised will all go towards
supporting the charity’s vital services in the Midlands, meaning
that every donation will really make a difference in our
community." Cyrrhian Macrae, Midlands Co-op's Head of
Community & Co-operative Affairs.
