Destination 2020: A plan for cardiac and vascular health

On 25 March 2009 the CVC will be launching Destination 2020: A plan for cardiac and vascular health at the House of Commons. Destination 2020 will set out the Coalition's plan for improving cardiac and vascular health in England. The plan will outline a vision of excellence for the next decade, and put forward recommendations to help achieve this. The document will be available to download from this site from the date of the launch.

Consultation for a Cardio & Vascular Health Strategy 2010-2020

This consultation is now closed. The CVC received responses from numerous organisations to help build a picture of what is being done well and what needs to be improved in the prevention and treatment of cardiac and vascular disease. The CVC also received approximately 350 responses to our online public survey. The CVC is analysing responses to the consultation and public survey, which will be useful to the Coalition as it develops recommendations for Destination 2020: A plan for cardiac and vascular health. Thank you to all those who took part!

Modelling the UK burden of cardiovascular disease to 2020

This new research report demonstrates the scale of the burden of cardiovascular disease (CVD) - shown to be large, costly, and increasing. Whilst  mortality from CVD has fallen, an increasing population over the next decade will create further demands on services as the actual numbers of people living with CVD climb higher.

Congenital Heart Disease Briefing Paper

With more people living with congenital heart disease (CoHD) than ever before, it is critical that quality services are made available to match the demand. Prepared by members of the CVC CoHD Working Group, this briefing is an exploration of these challenges, with recommendations to address the different concerns.
