Welcome to the Cardio & Vascular Coalition
The CVC is a national coalition of 33 voluntary organisations with an interest in promoting and protecting cardio/vascular health in England.
The interests of the CVC membership cover the breadth of cardio and vascular conditions - heart disease, diabetes, stroke and kidney disease - from pre-birth to end of life care.
With the National Service Framework for Coronary Heart Disease
coming to a close at the end of 2009, the CVC is campaigning for a
new, comprehensive
Cardiovascular Health Strategy for
2010-2020
The CVC wants to see...
- A Cardiovascular Health Strategy for 2010-20 that joins up prevention, diagnosis and care from pre-birth to end of life.
- Patients who are living with cardiovascular disease placed at the centre of policy and services to improve standards of care.
- Clinical and policy leadership on best practice.
- A model to predict the future burden of cardiovascular disease both in terms of economic costs and quality of life.
- Action that addresses the inequalities that exist in cardiovascular disease, prevention, diagnosis and care.
- A renewed commitment to basic bio-medical and applied research that will improve the provision of cardiovascular services.
- Central government and local commissioners working with the voluntary sector in planning and developing cardiovascular policy and services.
