BHF Heart Nurses provide a vital caring service. They give practical advice and information, as well as crucial emotional support, to thousands of heart patients, helping them to understand and manage their own condition, and improving their quality of life.
In 2007/8 we funded 69 new BHF Heart Nurses, bringing the total to 386, who support 66,000 patients and their families. Nine BHF Heart Nurses were nominated for Cardiac Nursing Awards and a BHF evaluation revealed that as well as providing an invaluable service to patients, they also make considerable savings to the NHS by reducing hospital readmission rates.
They're doing a magnificent job, but with so many people living with the pain of heart disease, the need for their skills has never been greater. We need your donations of money and time if we are to fund even more BHF Heart Nurses, who give so much to so many.
