Heart of Derby Appeal
£107,000 needed for a 3D Echocardiograph Machine
The Heart of Derby Appeal will fund a new 3D echocardiograph
machine with an additional toe probe for the cardiology department
at Derby Hospitals.
Cardiologists treat nearly 50,000 heart patients each year and
10,000 of these have echocardiographs. Echocardiographs are a
specialised test which look at the structure of the patient’s
heart. A probe is placed on the chest and a pulse of high frequency
sound is passed through the skin. The echoes reflected by the pulse
show as a picture on a screen.
These new 3D images provide extremely accurate and detailed
information about the structure, valves and pumping action of the
heart, helping doctors make more informed and speedier
diagnoses.
A toe probe is used with the 3D echocardiograph and involves
passing a fine flexible miniaturised ultrasound probe through the
mouth into the gullet and down behind the heart to get a very clear
image.
We need your support of the Heart of Derby Appeal to
help raise £107,000.
Donate today, or
create your own online fundraising appeal if you would
like to invite friends, family or colleagues to also support the
appeal.
We also need people to volunteer to
support the appeal. Your local volunteer fundraising
manager will be happy to discuss ways in which you can help.
For more information please call 01623 624 558.
Any money received in excess of the appeal target will be
applied to the British Heart Foundation’s other vital activities in
the fight against heart disease.
