What does the British Heart Foundation do?

The British Heart Foundation is the nation's heart charity, dedicated to saving lives through pioneering research, patient care, campaigning for change and by providing vital information. We rely on your donations of time and money to continue our life-saving work.

What is the Valentine Appeal?

The Valentine Appeal is the British Heart Foundation's (BHF) annual fundraising campaign which raises money to fund the BHF's vital care work. The Valentine Appeal 2008 is aiming to raise £1 million to provide vital care and support for heart patients and their families via BHF Heart Nurses and the Heart HelpLine.

When is the Valentine Appeal?

We are promoting the campaign from early January until 18th February 2008. Please feel free to organise your fundraising events around this time.

Was the 2007 Valentine Appeal successful and where did the money go?

The 2007 Valentine Appeal was successful in generating just over £1 million to fund BHF Heart Nurses and the Heart HelpLine. We are grateful to everyone who supported the appeal and hope that they will again 'give a gift that saves lives' in 2008.

What are BHF Heart Nurses?

BHF Heart Nurses are dedicated, caring health professionals, specially trained to help people live with heart disease. They support heart patients and their families through direct care, education and advice, to enable them to get the most out of life.

What is the Heart HelpLine?

The BHF's Heart HelpLine is a service which provides expert information on heart health from Cardiac Nurses and information officers who have the time to listen to individual's concerns, and the knowledge to answer questions in confidence. The team provides up to date and unbiased information.

What do I do if my materials haven't arrived?

If you've ordered materials and they haven't arrived after 5 working days, please email valentine@bhf.org.uk or call 0845 2410976 and we'll find out where they are.

Where do I send the money I've raised?

Please bank all monies raised and send a cheque made payable to: British Heart Foundation. Please include the payment slip with the reply envelope enclosed with your materials. If you do not have a payment slip, please make sure you let us know your name and address when you send in your donation, so we can thank you and confirm we have received your donation. If you don't have the reply envelope, you can send your cheque to:
