Spread cheer – volunteer!
Come and join us at the 2009 Sheffield Santa Jog – a one mile
festive fun run with runners dressing up. Our Santa Jog is a
perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit, raise your own heart
rate and help save local lives.
BBC Radio Sheffields Gareth Evans will be helping to entertain the
crowd with festive favourites and starting the event. He’ll have
special support from Libby Freestone, a local 2 year old who is a
bundle of fun despite waiting for heart surgery next year. Libby
will be taking part in the Jog with her parents John and Cheryl and
other family members.
Sheffield’s Santa Jog starts in the Peace Gardens with the
popular mass warm up by local gym instructors and is organised with
the kind support of Sheffield City Council. The two lap course
follows a route through the heart of the city centre and is
suitable for pushchairs and wheel chairs. Anyone can take part,
from babies to the elderly and you can complete the course at your
own pace.
The registration fee is a minimum donation of 10.00 for adults
and young people aged 14 and over, which includes a free adult size
Santa Suit.
Children aged 13 and under can enter the jog for free in fancy
dress but must be accompanied by a fee paying adult. Under 18s must
have parental permission to participate.
There will be a selection of prizes for the children in best
fancy dress, and everyone taking part in the Jog, young and old,
will receive a goody bag with discounted vouchers to local
attractions, including the Wheel of Sheffield.
Hurry – places are limited for safety reasons and this
is a popular local event!
