Houghton Hall Sponsored Walk: Organised by the BHF Fakenham
Branch
Sunday 19 September 2010
11.30am - Last entry 1.00pm
Houghton Hall is situated just off the A148 Fakenham to
Kings Lynn road. The walk is within its beautiful 4,500 acre estate
with its 450 acre deer park, home to over 600 of the famous white
fallow deer and smaller groups of exotic deer. This is
the fouth year the BHF Fakenham Branch Walk will be taking
place at Houghton Hall and we are grateful to the Marquess of
Cholmondeley for giving his permission.
There is a choice of circular routes: 3 miles starting anytime
between 11.30am and 1.00pm (last entry time) or a challenging 6
mile group walk starting at 12.00pm. Both routes are cross-country
on paths and tracks enabling you to enjoy the beautiful scenery of
the park and estate, and in areas not normally open to the
public.
Suitable sturdy footwear is essential. The routes are not
suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs. Dogs are welcome provided
they are kept on a lead.
Houghton Hall opens its gates at 11.30am with the walks starting
at from the car park. Walkers can either raise sponsor money or
make a donation to enter. Please bring your sponsor form with you,
as you will need to show this at the ticket office to obtain free
entry to the grounds. The café will be open for refreshments and
toilets adjacent.
Everyone taking part receives a medal at the end of the
walk.
