More information...
The Calke Abbey Walk is back for 2010, with an exciting
new option.
Looking to get fit in 2010? Promised yourself you'll walk off
those extra mince pies over the festive season? Then this event is
perfect for you.
You can now choose from a 14 mile route or a
shorter 7 mile circular route starting and
finishing in Calke Abbey Park, Ticknall.
The Walk links the two largest reservoirs in The National Forest
at Staunton Harold and Foremark in Derbyshire. Walking through the
rich and varied landscape of the Calke Uplands, there are superb
views across the Trent Valley and beyond. Historic villages and
parklands combine with new National Forest woodlands to create a
truly varied experience.
The route is a mixture of tracks, fields, forest paths and
country lanes. You will need to wear footwear and clothing
appropriate for the terrain and the changeable weather conditions
given the time of year. Unfortunately it is not suitable for
pushchairs or wheelchairs due to the field styles. Dogs on a lead
are allowed to accompany you on this walk.
We would love to see you take part in this fantastic
event.
