Activity ideas
Pick and choose from the ideas below. Or why not hold a healthy
eating launch event using one or more of these
activities?
- Healthy eating quizzes – a great way to encourage employees to
assess their eating habits and identify improvements. Here are some
ready-made quizzes you can download:
What you know about the food you eat

How healthy is your diet? Questionnaire
- Healthy eating workshops – run workshop sessions at lunchtime
or after work. You may find that a colleague has the skills and
knowledge to deliver a workshop, or else bring in an external
resource.

fitness professionals or weight management clubs – see if they can
run on-site sessions at lunchtime or after work. See bdaweightwise.com
- Healthy eating taster sessions – these provide an opportunity
for people to try out different healthy choices and learn how to
make their own meals more nutritious. Sessions can be held on site
or at a local community venue.
- Set up a breakfast bar to encourage employees to eat before
they start work. To find out how to do this

- Theme days – create your own, or focus on a local or national
theme such as
Cancer Research Fruity Friday
- A healthy eating fair to introduce employees to new initiatives
– invite local food outlets and shops to attend - for example,
a farm shop, health food shop or supermarket.
The bigger supermarket stores often have employees who are
responsible for promoting healthy eating in the community.
- Participation in local or national events such as a charity or
team event.
Try a healthy eating
event or a charity challenge
that promotes healthy living.
Or find your own event by visiting a list of registered
charities
- Nutrition or cookery courses - why not ask colleagues to
volunteer to attend? Once qualified, they can run healthy eating
sessions at work.
- Establish a workplace allotment scheme - it can be very
satisfying to grow your own produce! If you have space within your
workplace grounds, speak to your management team about allocating
an area for an allotment.
Alternatively, contact your local authority to find out where the
closest allotment area is. You will need a champion to take overall
responsibility for the allotment.
